Safety Tips

Avoid going too late in the evening. There's a river nearby where crocodiles live, and the forest area is home to tigers and wild elephants. The good news is SSB soldiers are on duty 24/7 keeping everyone safe.

Purnagiri Temple - A Sacred Journey

Purnagiri Temple

A few kilometers from Khatima stands the famous Purnagiri Temple – one of the 108 Siddha Peeths. Perched atop a hill about 20 kilometers from Tanakpur at 3,000 meters above sea level, this sacred spot attracts devotees from far and wide.

The temple gets absolutely packed during Chaitra Navratri in March-April. You can drive until Thulligad, but then it's a 3-kilometer trek to reach the temple. Trust me, the journey is worth every step.
